The Evolution of Discovery

Rovi significantly changed TV viewing with the introduction of the on-screen Interactive Program Guide in 1981. Since then, entertainment devices have evolved, and along with them, discovery habits. We have continued to pursue and develop technologies that push the boundaries of entertainment.

From the launch of the scrolling “EPG Channel” to the dynamic guides and time-shifted entertainment accessible from multiple screens today, Rovi has accomplished much in the area of discovery over the past 30 years. We can claim groundbreaking capabilities like in-grid advertising, parental controls, series recording and cross-device viewing as our own. And for our efforts, we were recently awarded an Emmy for “Pioneering On-Screen Interactive Program Guide.”

With guides in 157 million service provider households and 335 million devices, Rovi innovations are used every day on TVs, PCs, tablets, smartphones and elsewhere – and we continue to innovate, by creating new, highly personalized and engaging methods of content discovery and display for emerging platforms.
